Monday!

Hi there everyone!

So just to remind all of you, what we are up to this week.

For Language:
We have started our film project and have tackled the lyrics to Sara Bareilles' song "Brave".  Today we did some great work and I could see the whole class getting a clearer idea about what the song is really telling us throughout. Tonight you need to do the homework that is posted below, class samples will be read tomorrow in class so please be prepared.

For Math:
We are still doing patterning and algebra but have moved on from creating a table of values to problem solving using a variety of skills.  You were put into Math teams today and all of you worked on a short word problem with presentations to begin tomorrow afternoon.

History 7:
We began a timeline graph to see what we are going to study this term and see how events passed and New France was created.

History 8:
We covered primary and secondary sources and made a note...more photos to come!

A FEW REMINDERS FOR EVERYONE IN OUR CLASS:
1. Trip forms
2. Agenda $
3. Verification Forms
4. FB good copy
5. Paragraph for film project

Good night...see you all tomorrow!

Math Team fun!

First Post of the Year!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to our class blog, where you will find all kinds of information and links to the learning happening in our classroom.

It has been so great getting to know you all a bit better every day and watching you figure out the new timetable and rotary schedule with grace. It makes me proud to see you all taking responsibility for being prepared for your classes and keeping on top of your work. Below you will find a list of things that are upcoming in our class and things we have completed.  Please check our FB page and this blog as it will be helpful in keeping you organized for the year ahead!

7/8 History:

We watched these 4 shorts about what it means to be Canadian and then brainstormed what it meant to us to be Canadian.  You can see this list on FB.

Grade 7 Math:

So far we have covered : linear patterns and describing those patterns with words.

What we are working on now: putting linear patterns into a table of values, describing term values with pictures and figuring out the relationship between the term number and the term value.

*** We are paused for the moment until CAT 4 testing is done.

Grade 7/8 Language:

We are reading : Everyday AWESOME things
We are writing: Getting to know me pages and all of you should have handed in your good copy of your FB page.  Please get it in ASAP if you haven't already because I will be using this piece of writing as an assessment.

For oral communication: I am evaluating how you are listening in a variety of situations (that includes small groups, class discussions and even in the hall!!)

Media Literacy: We are starting our film project hopefully tomorrow...more details to come!

Grade 7 Drama:

We have started working with tableaus...so far students have been not as focused as I would like in drama.  Please come to class ready to work..(you know who I'm talking about).
